Dental Implant Restorations

Dental implants or dental implant restoration is a modern oral surgery technique. The Dental Implants Procedure

Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers are thin sheaths made of durable, tooth-colored porcelain that are bonded to the front of teeth. Porcelain veneers are an excellent way to conceal imperfections such as stains, chips, and cracks, or to create better shape and alignment in the teeth. In fact, veneers are so versatile and simple to apply that they are frequently used as “instant orthodontics” to straighten teeth and restore symmetry to a smile without the use of braces. Porcelain veneers are strong, long lasting, and completely natural looking.

Receiving Porcelain Veneers

The porcelain veneers procedure is done in three distinct stages: evaluation and planning, tooth preparation, and final application. To complete the first stage, your dentist at Welborne, White & O’Leary will carefully evaluate the tooth or teeth that will be replaced with dental veneers. Together you will discuss all phases of the treatment and plan for the next stage in the process.

Before dental veneers can be applied, the teeth must be prepared to accommodate the layer of porcelain that will be added to them. This is accomplished at your second appointment, during which a small layer of enamel is gently removed from the selected teeth. Once the teeth have been prepped, the dentist will make a dental mold that will be used to create your customized porcelain veneers. Temporary veneers are then placed on the prepared teeth giving the patient a beautiful and straight smile instantly. The temporaries are worn for a few weeks while the permanent veneers are fabricated by the laboratory.

At your third and final appointment, your brand new custom veneers will be bonded to the front of your teeth using a unique, tooth-colored cement. A specialized lamp will be focused on the veneers to harden and fortify the cement bond. When the bonding process is complete, you will be ready to share and enjoy your beautiful new smile. While it may take about five to seven days for you to become accustomed to the new size and shape of your teeth, the results will be instant and remarkable.

LUMINEERS® by CERINATE®

In addition to traditional porcelain veneers, we are pleased to offer LUMINEERS® by CERINATE® to our Charlotte area patients. LUMINEERS® are very similar to conventional veneers, but the porcelain strips are thinner. The difference is their size often means that a layer of enamel from the original tooth does not need to be removed to prepare for placement of the veneer. Avoiding this step also means that the veneers can be placed without the use of anesthetic. Crowns

Treatment with CEREC® is fast and easy. First, the dentist will take digital pictures of your tooth using the unique CEREC® camera. With these pictures, the 3D computer software creates a multidimensional model of your prepared tooth, and you can watch as the dentist quickly designs your new crown. The finished design is then electronically sent to the CEREC® milling unit, where your custom-colored crown is produced in less than 20 minutes. Finally, the dentist will polish the crown and bond it to the damaged tooth for a lasting, natural-looking restoration.
